Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
The squirrels are active and my snowdrops are in bloom, a welcome reminder that Spring is just around the corner. Spring is the resurrection of the earth from the dark, frozen time of Winter into the welcome greens of life. To truly appreciate the joys of Easter and the resurrection of Jesus Christ we need to travel through the darkness and sufferings of Holy Week. It is in times of sickness that we truly appreciate good health. It is in times of crisis and suffering that we can truly appreciate the peaceful boredom of ordinary times. In dying to old ways we are born into new life. I pray for a quiet, peaceful Lent for you; a time for reflection, a time to contemplate the meaning of life, a time to be still and listen for the quiet voice of God, a time to listen for the word that God has for you, a time to listen for the word that God has for St. James’. Attached is our 2018 Holy Week Schedule. Holy Week and Easter is the most important festival of our Christian church year. I hope you will plan to join us for as many services as you are able. Blessings for Holy Week and a Joyous Easter, Mother Darlene+ 2018 Holy Week Schedule Saturday, March 24th 8:30 am – Morning Prayer 9:00 am – Acolyte Training 10:00 am – Altar Guild Work Meeting Sunday, March 25th at 9:30 am Liturgy of the Palms – Parish Hall Passion Sunday Service Vestry Meeting Monday, March 26th at 5:30 pm Stations of the Cross Thursday, March 29th at 5:30 pm Maundy Thursday Service with Foot Washing Stripping of the Altar Friday, March 30th 12:00-1:30 pm – Seven Last Words of Christ at Lewis Chapel 5:30 pm - Good Friday Service at St. James’ Episcopal Church Saturday, March 31st 8:30 am – Holy Saturday Service 9:00 am – Altar Guild setup for Easter 8:00 pm – Easter Vigil at Trinity Marshall Sunday, April 1st 9:30 am – Easter Sunday Service

So nice to see pictures of St James . Today I happened to run across the date of my confirmation, 4/30/61, while I was a junior at Albion College. I have happy memories of singing in the church choir as a college student.
